Artist Statement
Frances’ landscape paintings are inspired by her West Coast Island adventures. She is drawn to the drama and timelessness of nature. She starts with a construction of forms, evolving colors and textures, eventually building up to a recognizable landscape. The result is an abstracted landscape that is more than a mere representation of the original place; it is essentially a new way of experiencing it. Her aim is to invoke a memory or feeling of “being there”.
Frances graduated from the Emily Carr University of Arts + Design in 2008, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Frances Sky creates, works, and lives in Vancouver, B.C. Her artwork can be found in private collections across Canada.
